{Too Cute}

Awhile ago I had the absolute honor of photographing my friend Courtney and her beautiful children before they moved from their old house. I say honor because Courtney is an incredibly talented photographer! She had the brilliant idea of getting images of them all together in the house the kids grew up in, before they moved. LOVE it. It was different for me to take a very journalistic approach to this session and basically just shoot what was happening. I must say I very much enjoyed it!

How could I really go wrong with subjects like this.

As you can see, she had no trouble ignoring my presence.

Yep, my heart melts when I look at this one.

Okay, pretty much everything about this image is chaos. Stella walking towards me, Owen with his finger in his nose, Courtney just smiling at the craziness.

I LOVE everything about this shot. I wouldn’t change anything.

Hoity Toity Baby

The other day I was able to interview the fabulous Nicole, owner of Hoity Toity Baby. Nicole designs and sows the most adorable children’s clothing.

Here is my interview with her:

How did you decide on the name?

I was on the phone with my sister trying to decide a name. I was describing to her what I wanted my business to be like, and she said oh like hoity toity. The name was perfect.

When and how did you start your business?

In October of 2008, my aunt came to stay with me and brought my Grandmother’s sowing machine. We made my children’s Halloween costumes and she taught me how to sow. I made my daughter a jumper and people kept asking where I bought it, so I decided to start selling my creations.

Where do you see your business going in the future?

In the future, I would like to have my clothing in boutiques. I would also like to find a manufacturer to get them into bigger stores.

What makes your business unique?

I use different types of fabrics that are eye-catching and then I try to putting them together in new ways. I like using interesting pairings and fabrics to create unique designs.

How do you balance business and family?

I am very blessed to have a husband who takes over with the kids when he gets home from work. That gives me time to work and he always works to see the end result and to help motivate me.

{Ribbons for Rae}

Today I have a special treat. Jena is my first interviewee in my series on Momtrepreneur (aka Entrepreneurs that are Moms). Jena McClure is the amazing owner/ bow-making extraordinaire of Ribbons for Rae. You may remember Jena from her photoshoot with her girls, which you can see here if you missed it!

First of all, Jena is BEAUTIFUL. I just had to say that!

How did you decide on the name Ribbons for Rae?

Rae is my middle name, my mother’s middle name, and also my daughter’s. I wanted to think of a more couture name than bows. So I decided to choose ribbons, since that is what I use to make each bow.

When and how did you start your business?

I realized I was spending so much on bows that weren’t very cute. I’ve always saved ribbons, so I decided to make my own. My first one was a white bow with a blue dragonfly on it. Since the girls were wearing them out all the time, people began asking were they could get some too. So I decided to start selling my bows, which was back in July of 2008.

Where do you see your business going from here?

I would love to get into some bigger stores and make the Ribbons for Rae name a known brand.

What makes your bows so unique?

Each bow is individually handmade and designed. Bows can be customized to match school uniforms or outfits.

How do you balance business and family?

It can be really difficult at times. Business comes second and comes during nap-time and after bed. Having a supportive husband makes all the difference. He is constantly encouraging me and is always excited to watch my business grow.

{How Adorable}

A little over a week ago I had a session with two of the cutest little girls I have ever seen, along with their beautiful Mom. Jena knew exactly what she wanted and had the girls in the cutest outfits. Make sure you notice the Ah-Mazing bows the girls have on which were made by their gorgeous mom. When we were shooting at the Weston Town Center, I decided to sneak a little video of the girls.

As you know, I LOVE my best friend Danielle’s two boys. Both of them are in such adorable stages of life. Austin lost both his front teeth and it is just adorable. Ayden is just so cubbilicious right now and the cuddliest happiest baby. All of these pictures make me smile.

Wow wow wow… Today I had a session with one of the most beautiful little girls ever. Just look at her pictures and you will have to agree with me. I love the level of sophistication in a first grader!!!! We shot all of these images at the Weston Town Centre which is an awesome place to shoot! Now without further ado…

I was editing last night and ran across a couple more images of Ayden that I just LOVE. Seriously, I love when babies are so chunky. Okay, even though he can’t technically stand on his own yet. I just had to get a shot of his adorable legs!

In other news… Today is my 3 1/2 anniversary with the most amazing and wonderful man in the world. I can’t believe we have been married so long!

{Gavin}

A month or two ago I had the pleasure of babysitting some friends of ours little boy, Gavin. He has the craziest red hair and an adorable personality. He was about 15 months old when I took these and that is such a cute age. He was walking through the grass and kept toppling over… sooo sweet.

I bought myself a canvas of this picture for my new office.

How cute!

I just love his little tiny hand!

This is the face he kept making when I took his pacifier from him… sometimes he would smile.

Well we are still in St. Louis and it says it might snow tonight.

I have my fingers crossed!!!!

The other day I received this beauty in the mail and couldn’t have been more excited! These are the newest product I am offering for portrait sessions. Why a bunch of individual prints? When you can have them in a beautifully bound album. Love it! Everyone should want one of these beautiful Finao albums.

Lori, great job on the cover choice! {There are many different options, but I love this one}

This is not only a great way to show off your pictures, but come on now, it would be such an awesome present.

Think about Grandma opening one of these on Christmas morning – I’m just saying!

In other news… today is my niece Kayleigh’s birthday! Happy Birthday KJ!

Last update. I have been having the MOST FUN WEEK.

Brett’s college roommate, Jarrod, came in town and we have been having a blast all week.

I.held.an.alligator.today. If that tells you anything. Many many pictures to come.

Oh and one last picture, this little cutie fell asleep on my couch last night! Oh baby Ayden.

{Christmas is coming… way too soon}

Last Sunday, I had the pleasure of photographing an adorable family for their Christmas cards. I wanted to give you a quick sneak peek at their cuteness. I won’t be posting any of the family shots yet – until they decide what they want their Holiday card image to be.

We took these at one of my favorite places in Broward County Tree Tops Park. {3900 S.W. 100th Ave. | Davie, FL 33328}
