{No Trespassing}

The other day I got together with 3 of my photographer friends to do a little shooting. We were planning on shooting at a park, but when we saw an abandoned house, we changed our mind. Luckily the sign said the Sheriffs would ask us to leave, so we figured with those consequences we would be okay.

To give you an idea of our surroundings.

It didn’t look like much, but it made for some awesome images.

Here is the talented Kyle Burnell, who I met last year at WPPI and who was visiting from Portland, Maine.

The gorgeous Mirelis, who is a photographer in Fort Lauderdale.

I LOVE this one sooo much.

And last but not least, Giselle, who is a talented makeup artist and second shooter for her sister.

I am loving the black and white.

I wish I could look as beautiful as Giselle when I am laughing!

{One Year Ago…}

It was a Monday afternoon and I got a call on my cell phone during my lunch break {I was a 4th grade teacher at the time} and when I saw the missed call I was really perplexed. It was from one of my fellow teachers, Danielle, and she was at school too, so I had no idea why she was calling my cell. I got in touch with her, but our lunch break was over and she told me to come down to her room as soon as we had our next break.

My mind was racing with all of the possibilities that could be going on, so I as soon as I took my students to their class, I ran down to her room.

“Can you keep a secret?” was the VERY first thing she said to me when I walked in the door. “You’re pregnant, aren’t you?” was my reply. Then she explained to me how she had taken pregnancy tests but none were really showing one way or the other. I promised I would tell no one {other than Brett, who I called to ask a favor} Here’s how that conversation went:

“Hey Brett, Can you do me a HUGE favor and bring some pregnancy tests to me after school?”… silence… “whaatttttt????” I explained who they were for and I think Brett climbed down from the ceiling. So of course, being that his is wonderful, he brought them to me after school.

Danielle tried one and it didn’t work. Then she tried another and we were sitting their waiting the PAINFUL two minutes, when her mentor walked in and asked if we were ready to go to our meeting. We looked like deer in the headlights… it must have been quite a hilarious scene. It turns out Danielle was pregnant … she found out one year ago today.

I can’t believe all that has happened since that crazy day. Danielle was a friend then… now I cannot imagine her being anything other than my BEST friend. Ayden caused A LOT of trouble, tears, and worry while he was growing inside Danielle. But with all of those events came a friendship between Danielle and I that is so much stronger because of each bump in the road! I can’t even imagine my life without her in it now… or the entire family for that matter.

Today I took pictures of Ayden and he is now 4 months old and one of the most beautiful babies in the world.

Changes are such blessings.

Who would have thought last year Danielle would have a 4 month old or that I wouldn’t be a teacher? Wow, God’s plans are so much greater than ours!

{Blogging iPhone edition}

So as you may have guessed from my entry title, I am blogging via Brett’s iPhone. Come on, shouldn’t I get some extra commitment points for that? Hopefully! Tomorrow will mark my first week of blogging every day and I am pretty proud. We’ve even been away all week. Oh and by the way, it snowed a ton last night! We played in it all day and as soon as I get back to Florida tomorrow I will post some pictures and videos with my new Flip.In other exciting news, I have been featured on Scarlett Lillian’s blog. Check it out at: www.scarlettlillian.net sorry this post has no picture… I can’t figure out how to do it on here. I will make up for it tomorrow.
P.S. It feels like -6 here in St. Louis… That is just sick!!!

{I am in a different time zone}

Okay, it is 11:25pm in St. Louis…where I am… so even though I would have missed my blogging everyday if I was in Fort Lauderdale, luckily I am not. Woohoo! We are having the absolute BEST time at this conference and have met some people who I am sure will be lifelong friends.

I am pretty tired but I did want to write something. So here it goes…

How absolutely adorable is my nephew? I love him so much.

Does anyone else see the resemblance between Brett and Derek???

Same smile, eyes, nose… everything. I promise he is our nephew not our son.

I always say how adorable Derek is and my mom says,”Of course you think he is cute, he looks just like your husband.”

I hope you are having a wonderful first week of January!

{Guess Where We Are}

So today’s post will be short and sweet since we have been traveling all day. We are here in __________ for a Youth Ministry conference and we are freezing our butts off. Can you guess where we are?
